Tectonic plates-

Tectonic plates are pieces of Earth's crust and uppermost mantle,

together referred to as the lithosphere. There are three types of tectonic

plates, divergent, convergent and transformative plates.

A divergent plate is a plate which moves away from each other usually

causing a volcano to form and then erupt over time.

A convergent plate does multiple things. Firstly, convergent plates push

together and either rise up creating mountains or one is submerged under

the other causing a volcano to form.

Chloe2

Or convergent plates create this...

Transformative plates are two plates that move against each other,

building up tension, then releasing the tension in a sudden and often

violent jerk. This sudden jerk creates an earthquake.

tectonic plates are responsible for many natural disasters and they

continue to shape our world every day.
