A desert is defined as a place with little to no rainfall each year and is extremely dry.

Other characteristics of a desert are; sandy or icy, have extremely low humidity, not

much vegetation and high UV.

Not only are there hot sandy deserts (such as the Sahara) but there are cold icy

deserts (such as Antartica). Temperatures is deserts can range between 20° to 50°

in a hot dessert and from -20° to 25° in cold deserts.

There is usually a low population in deserts due to the extreme weather, lack of

vegetation, precipitation and plant life, and the fact that it's hard to obtain important resources.
